FACTUAL NOTE

DISTRICT VETERINARY CENTRE, KANNUR.

The DVC  Kannur, is situated at heart of the city .

The Vet. Dispensary Manjery which was started in April 1921,was later shifted to Kannur in October 1925. The Vet. Dispensry Kannur was upgraded as Vet.Hospital in March 1985. Later this institution was upgraded as DVC in 1985.

The New well equipped building was inaugurated by Sri.C.Divakaran honourable  Minister for AH, in a  function Presided by Sri.K.K.Narayanan, The District Panchayath President in presence of Sri.A.P.Abdullakutty, MP and Sri.K.Sudhakaran, M.L.A on Dec.1, 2007.

The area covered is entire Kannur district.

This Institution functions as a referral hospital for the entire District.

The following facilities  available here establishes the fact that this is a true                     referral hospital for the farmers and the Pet owners of Kannur district.

The DVC functions from 8am to 8pm on all working days.

There is a well equipped Operation Theatre attached with this where all kinds of surgeries in small animals can be performed.

The operation theatre is equipped with an Endoscopy unit and Diathermy Equipments.

The Regional Clinical Laboratory and the Rabies Diagnostic Lab which utilizes the most modern technology an is a  real Boon to the Farming Community and Pet owners of Kannur district.

The DVC is headed by The Chief Veterinary Officer who is in the Deputy Director Rank.

The CVO is supported by a Senior Vet. Surgeon and  the following staff.

The Kannur block level unit of NADRS which is a joint venture of Ministry of Agriculture and National Informatic System and Dept. of AHD, Kerala is also functions in DVC.
